extends org.springframework.web.filter.OncePerRequestFilter

Attempts to extract gateway user information from request headers. If valid headers are present, a GatewayUser is set as a request attribute. If headers are absent, the request passes through (public endpoints). If headers are present but malformed, the request is rejected with 400 Bad Request.
